The Nobel Prize Awards announced at stages encouraging creativity, sharing and reuseDesign, Production, Tactical urbanismNobel Calling is ten days full of activities in the city of Stockholm in connection with the announcements of the Nobel Prizes. During Nobel Calling, the ideas, discoveries, and contributions to the benefit of humankind that the Nobel Prize rewards are celebrated. Design Nation was asked to make a design and produce the event Nobel Calling at Sergel's Square in 2021. Design Nation involved LundbergDesign and the team designed stages made of Swedish wood. The stages were produced in collaboration with Onemotion, and supported by Setra Group and Fox Belysning. The ten days programme was made by theatre director and producer Johan Bark. Open Stage events, circus, music and poetry were featured on the three stages located on the square. Passers-by could also sit down and listen to earlier Nobel Prize laureates. To make the stages more sustainable and long lifed it was decided on before-hand that the stages should be designed both for Sergels Torg and the event Nobel Calling, but also to be reused. After the event was finished the stages should be donated to various places where they could continue to serve as street furnitures for seating, play and performing arts. Accordingly the stages were given away, ending up at Nobelberget in Sickla, in Malmö and in Gothenburg. The aim of the design was to make a concept with a sustainable approach, out from Swedish wood, flexible, multi-functional, possible to disassemble and durable.
