A study on ways of thinking and working for society's transformation in a sustainable directionAuthor, Strategist, Specialist, Graphic design"Design as a driving force for development" is a national study on ways of thinking and working for society's transformation in a sustainable direction, which was produced on behalf of the Ministry of Culture in collaboration between SVID (The Swedish Industrial Design Foundation) and Svensk Form (The Swedish Design Association).The lead writer for the study was Lisa Daram Westling, and Daniel Byström from Design Nation was a co-writer and design strategist.The study begins with a discussion of what design is and can do to respond to policy objectives. It is then discussed how design processes can contribute to increased value in both the private and public sector. In addition, the origin and development of Swedish design policy, the Nordic neighboring countries' work with the design field, and good examples of design as a driving force for development are described and discussed.
