Austurland Maps & Signs
Map production, Illustration, Design, ConstructionThe map of Austurland was outdated and a new map for visitors needed to be produced. The new map was made in a colour space and style that better aligned with the outdoor destination that Austurland is. A completely new set of pictograms was made especially for Austurland, also used on sign posts, to enhance the visual identity.The sign system developed were designed using colors, patterns and materials locally sourced. For the wooden frames larch tree, colors based in the landscape, dark concrete from lava, and hexagon shapes inspired from the basalt columns found around Austurland.
